I have been a bioengineer working on the artifical heart; a Catholic priest serving in a parish, and in a small liberal arts college; and the editor of a magazine about green homebuilding and renovation. The ” throughway” has been writing. I have benefited from the support of other writers and I’ve been a support to others. Creative collaboration is soul work and writing with others is a sacred act.
Writing for me is about connection. Words allow us to connect to others and our deepest selves. Writing holds a mirror to our thoughts and emotions and by reflecting on our experience we find insight and freedom to make better informed decisions.
As writers and editors, the goal is to create content that is well organized, clear in its intent, and presented in an appropriate tone.
My work at the magazine, which covered green building and renovation, was recognized by my peers who selected me for membership in the Building Performance Institutes’ Building Performance Hall of Fame.
I’ve published personal essays, feature articles, and for 5 years was a regular contributor to a science blog for the KQED public broadcasting station. I’ve written on the interface of science and spirituality. WingIt press and others have published my poetry, and I am a meber of the Squaw Valley Community of Writers and Diablo Writers Workshop.
If you want my help as a writing coach or developmental editor, I would be glad to discuss your project with you and we can decide how I might contribute. I work for $50 per hour or $0.25 per word, and we can meet in person or online.
